on being human pt.1
The norm of the modern world: stay on your phone and away from yourself (and others) - the dichotomy! I know!
The highlight reel that is the digital space. The screens and apps that keep us everywhere but with ourselves. Designed to be connectors, we now feel more lonely than ever before. We open an app, see everyone posting and so begins the subconscious comparison. So I’m starting this series to share the relatability of the human experience, lessons learned, and whatever else comes up along the journey. If you choose to see it, there’s a lesson in each day. A mind dump for me, and a connector to you - because we probably have more things in common than we think. Or not, idk. But what I do know is that sharing real thoughts and being vulnerable are connectors to the rest of the world. So, with that spiel — today’s lesson:
We can imagine the ideal, conjuring up this image of how we want our lives to look, who we want to be, what we want to be doing. We feel, and know, in our souls that we can become that version of ourselves. We see it and it feels “perfect.” Like, everything feel right and aligned and … perfect. Visualizing yourself achieving your goals is an important tool in the toolkit. And here’s the caveat. That image in our mind’s eye of having it all figured out? It’s just that - an image. The reality of life is the version of you now and future you have one thing in common: the unavoidable experiences of discomfort, pain, and constant work. I know, I know - “nooooo.” But wait - stick with me here. The moment you accept that these three things are unavoidable is the moment you get to enjoy life. The resistance to the hardship of it all can melt away. It’s the moment you start transforming into that ideal image you’ve created. Life is perfectly imperfect and always will be. Whether you’re working your dream job, with your forever partner, living in your dream city or not - these 3 things will find ways to pop up one way or another. Your happiness depends on how you accept this reality. Along with acceptance also comes gratitude. Gratitude for the human experience and the ability (and responsibility) to evolve through it all.
DISCOMFORT, PAIN, CONSTANT WORK = UNAVOIDABLE // GRATITUDE FOR IT ALL
